Audit of USAID/Jordan’s Private Sector for Women’s Health Project.
Fiscal Year: 2011
Audit Report Available: Yes
Jordan has one of the fastest growing populations in the world. Between the censuses conducted in 1979 and 1994, the population grew from 2.1 million to 5.1 million people—an average increase of 2.7 percent annually. At this rate, the country’s population will double in 25 years.
Jordan’s scarce resources, high fertility rates, and young population (70 percent under 30 years old) demand attention to reduce population growth, improve service delivery, and address emerging challenges, such as breast cancer. USAID/Jordan awarded approximately $18.9 million in a 5-year, cost-plus-fixed-fee task order to Abt Associates Inc. for the Private Sector for Women’s Health Project, with a completion date of January 2012.
This audit will determine whether USAID/Jordan’s Private Sector for Women's Health Project is reducing fertility and improving women’s health.
