Audit of USAID/Egypt’s LIFE Integrated Water Resource Management Program II Activities.
Fiscal Year: 2011
Because of increases in household incomes and new markets for agricultural production, Egyptian Government officials expect the demand for water to rise sharply. USAID/Egypt awarded a $3.9 million contract to the International Resources Group to continue to support the Egyptian Government’s recent reform efforts to help promote the sustainability of the water and wastewater sector from January 25, 2009, to September 30, 2012.
The program aims to increase the number of association and water management districts and to work with Egypt’s national, regional, and local institutions to enhance their capacity to plan, construct, rehabilitate, operate, maintain, and finance the country’s vast and complex water resources system.
This audit will determine whether USAID/Egypt’s LIFE Integrated Water Resource Management II Program is increasing the productivity and efficiency of water resources, improving water quality, and improving equitable allocation of water resources.
