Description: USAID/Afghanistan awarded Black & Veatch Special Projects Corporation a $266 million contract to implement the Kandahar Power Initiative from December 4, 2010, to September 30, 2013. The program contains components for upgrading transmission systems, rebuilding electrical substations, providing additional diesel generators, and installing a third turbine at the Kajakai Hydro Power Plant.
