Fiscal Year: 2010 Agency: USAID Audit Report Available: Yes Description: The objective of the 5-year, $59 million Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills Project is to increase access to quality education for elementary school children and provide job training for out-of-school youth. The project also intends to reduce the perpetuation of conflict and the social, economic, and political marginalization of disadvantaged groups in conflict-prone areas. The project will carry out targeted interventions to improve the quality of and access to education and job training and to address systemic reform. The project will include English instruction (via radio and educational TV), curriculum and materials development, teacher training, limited classroom repair or construction, and distribution of textbooks, school supplies, and equipment to needy schools. In addition, the project will support pilot programs that reintegrate out-of-school youth into the workforce through apprenticeships with partner businesses. This audit will determine whether USAID/Philippines’ Education Quality and Access for Learning and Livelihood Skills helping to increase access to quality education.
